Characteristic and applications:
Performance
1. Low foam, defoaming, and foam suppression all in one: It has low foaming ability, can break bubbles, and prevent foam from recurring, performing better than plant oils or higher alcohols in defoaming.
2. Strong emulsification and good dispersibility: Helps oil and water form a stable emulsion, and pigments/fillers are less likely to flocculate or settle.
3. Good lubricity: Large molecular weight with many side chains, spreads into a film on fibers and metal surfaces, suitable as a smoothener for synthetic fiber oils and as a release agent.
4. Non-hygroscopic, low toxicity, good thermal stability, relatively high flash point, and decent low-temperature fluidity.
Miscible with water and various organic solvents, and compatible with other formulations.
Applications
1. Daily/Industrial Cleaning: Component for low-foam detergents, solves excessive foam issues in high-foam detergents for spray or drum processes.
2. Textile Dyeing and Printing: Fabric leveling agent, antistatic agent; defoaming during dyeing: pretreatment/bleaching stage > high temperature/high pressure/low liquor ratio/jet dyeing > printing > general skein dyeing; usual dosage 0.02%~0.1%, recommended to add in small multiple doses.
3. Synthetic Fiber and Spinning: Smoothener in synthetic fiber oils, lubricant in high-speed spinning oils.
4. Metalworking: Component for metal cutting coolants (emulsifying, lubricating, low-foam).
5. Release agent.
6. Fermentation/Food/Sugar Industry: Used as a defoamer in pharmaceuticals, MSG, sugar, and paint production, also prevents foam from coming back.
7. Pesticides and Cosmetics: Emulsifies and disperses pesticide aqueous solutions, improves spraying uniformity.
8. Cosmetic emulsifier: Helps disperse oil phase in water, making texture finer.
9. Coatings/Inks: Pigment dispersant, dosage 0.5%~1%, can improve dispersion stability by 30%~40%, also improves leveling and gloss; in inks, reduces surface tension and enhances substrate wetting.
